Buyk
We built web and mobile interfaces from scratch for employees (couriers, storekeepers, pickers, managers). The launch took place in the U.S. (New York) — everything was adapted to local processes and user behavior

🌿 Key specifics
  • Remote coordination of local teams in the U.S.
  • Adjustments for behavioral and UX differences of the American audience
  • Fast growth: from MVP to scalable product with regular releases
🚀 Results
  • A fully functioning express delivery service was launched in a short time on a new market
  • All key modules (receiving, picking, delivery, inventory) were built from scratch with U.S. market requirements in mind
  • Efficient user feedback and analytics collection was established — iterations were fast and targeted
Context and General Info
Buyk was the American subsidiary of Samokat, launched to provide fast grocery delivery in New York (including Manhattan and other areas). It followed the dark store model, adapted to the U.S. market.
My Role
Product Design – designed user scenarios, created layouts and prototypes, developed UI/UX for both web and mobile
Documentation – prepared technical specifications and detailed feature descriptions to reduce misunderstandings
Design System – created a unified style and pattern library to ensure consistency across all Buyk products
Coordination – participated in roadmap planning, aligned priorities and focus tasks with stakeholders, and worked with the dev team daily
Scope and Focus
Main goal – launch a startup from scratch in the U.S. and build effective tools for employees

I was responsible for designing services in the following areas:
  • Web interface (backoffice) – store and operations management
  • Product catalog – categories, filters, attributes, inventory
  • Inventory & supply – receiving, tracking, write-offs
  • Staff dashboards – task status, role assignment
  • Task feed – notifications, updates, actions
  • Mobile app – interfaces for couriers, pickers, storekeepers
  • Fulfillment processes – delivery, navigation, recount, routes
  • Design system – shared patterns, UI kits, guidelines for all Buyk services
All solutions were designed from scratch, then went through cycles of improvement: from MVP to scalable product via redesign and integrations
Problems & Pain Points Solved
Built from scratch: Buyk had no existing system — we had to quickly create tools for ordering, inventory, and warehouse management
Remote launch: the team was in Russia, the product launched in the U.S. User data came from local researchers and analytics — there was no direct contact with the audience
High pace: the MVP had to be launched in a matter of weeks and rapidly iterated based on feedback and metrics
Unfamiliar user behavior: behavioral patterns of the U.S. audience differed from those in Russian products — adaptation was needed for the new market
Approach & Methodology
Scrum: worked in sprints with regular demos, retros, and planning
Field research: interviews, surveys conducted by local researchers to collect insights from U.S. users
Iterative development: after the MVP, features were improved step-by-step based on analytics and user feedback
Close collaboration: daily syncs with product, engineering, analysts, and designers helped us quickly solve emerging issues
Design
Visual Part: Web Interface
The web interface was designed based on the system I developed, ensuring visual consistency and easy scalability
Visual Part: Mobile App
The mobile app design evolved from the same system, ensuring consistency with the web interface and speeding up work on new screens
Final Results
Working on Buyk was a full-cycle experience of building an express delivery service from scratch in a new market for Samokat. I was the first designer, responsible for key modules and laying the foundation for UI/UX: from the design system and mobile app for couriers to the web platform for storekeepers and operators.
In a fast-paced, startup environment, I contributed to accelerated go-to-market, enabled continuous improvements, and adapted the product to the specifics of the American user.

Successful launch: the service was built from scratch and launched in the U.S.
Metric growth: exact figures under NDA, but we saw improved operational KPIs (order processing time, inventory accuracy, etc.)
Post-MVP redesign: after the MVP, we conducted a major UI update based on real scenarios and user insights
